This is the official Bluesky page of Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II, representing Missouri's Fifth District (#MO05).
My heart breaks for the victims and those traumatized by the horrific mass shooting at Bondi Beach.

As we grieve with those devastated by the latest act of antisemitism and gun violence, let us also stand with our Jewish brothers and sisters by continuing to condemn hate in all forms.
Australia’s deadliest mass shooting in almost 30 years has sparked an outpouring of grief, anger and solidarity from the country’s roughly 120,000 Jews, which include the highest per capita population of Holocaust survivors outside of Israel. https://wapo.st/48DyZfp

Senator Durbin is absolutely right: the power to declare war lies with Congress.

The American people want the administration to focus on lowering costs for hardworking families—not instigating another regime change war to secure more oil reserves for Big Oil.
Durbin: "Any president before he engages in act of war has to have the authorization of the American people through Congress ... this president is preparing for an invasion of Venezuela. Simply said. And if the American people are in favor of that, I'd be surprised."

It is deeply disappointing that Congressional Republicans continue to block an extension of Affordable Care Act tax credits that help working-class families afford health care.

Tens of millions of Americans, including 48,000 Missourians in #MO05, will see their premiums sky rocket because of it.

The president’s extreme and inhumane mass deportation agenda undermines the civil liberties of American citizens and endangers beloved members of our community.

We all must continue to stand up, speak out, and demand accountability for these abuses of power.
MINNEAPOLIS: “All I did was step outside as a Somali American citizen, and I got chased by a masked person, assaulted, kidnapped. It was inhumane. If this is what’s happening to a 🇺🇸 citizen on camera, imagine what could happen to your loved ones.”

The president has no solutions to lower costs for American families—so he falls back on xenophobia and scapegoating immigrants.

After starting a trade war that has devastated Missouri farmers, the president is giving a Band-Aid to American producers that won’t arrive until next year.

Our farmers want open markets and a level playing field—not another handout that won’t address the crisis.
Soybean farmer: This is a Band-Aid on an open wound. I've been farming 21 years now, and this is by far the most serious economic situation that I've experienced. The American farmer is the best in the world. We simply need a level playing field and opportunity moving forward

The Trump family has made billions of dollars in the past year by selling access to the White House.

But hardworking American families should be forced to ration food and withhold toys from their children this holiday season because of his failed policies.
Trump: "You can give up certain products. You could give up pencils. Because under the China policy, every child can get 37 pencils. They only need 1 or 2. They don't need that many. You always need steel. You don't need 37 dolls for your daughter. 2 or 3 is nice. So we're doing things right."

Americans are struggling to stay afloat because of the president’s reckless tariff taxes and regressive economic policies.
