My family easily spent $250 a week at Publix. Now we go elsewhere.
In Opinion, the lawyer representing a grandmother and a toddler shot to death in a Publix writes about the chain allowing guns in its stores: "That wasn’t corporate neutrality — it was a decision. A decision that instantly transformed grocery shopping from a routine errand into a risk calculation."
‘Publix Carry’ isn’t safety policy — it’s a liability countdown | Opinion
A lawyer representing a family whose loved ones were killed in a shooting inside a Royal Palm Beach Publix writes that the supermarket’s open-carry policy will only make matters worse.

"We don't like feeling shame. We want to avoid it. It's very uncomfortable," ... And if the source of shame is from the clinician, the patient may ask, "'Why would I go back?' In some cases, that patient may generalize that to the whole health care system."

RIP JDJ. Saw his band on a double bill with Dave Holland's quintet 40 years ago, so great. Spent many hours listening to recordings featuring his powerful, technically flawless and endlessly inventive drumming. Thanks for all the amazing music, maestro.

The treatment of pain with Chinese herbs has been an ongoing theme in our publication. In that vein, I’ve been doing some research on wēilíngxiān [Radix Clematidis, Clematis root]. Here are a few perspectives on the herb from the mid- to late-imperial eras.

Hey, can anyone help me identify this mushroom? I found it in my yard while weed-whacking. Growing on a fallen palm trunk in a shady area. Southeast Florida, just north of Miami. Thanks in advance.

Herb nerd word of the day: GARBLE

In the herb nerd world, garbling is the process of sorting dried plant material to remove leaves and/or flowery bits from stems. It’s not a thing you HAVE to do, but it sure as heck makes storage more efficient and filling tea bags a lot easier.
