I never said anyone needs to bend to an operating system esp considering I said Linux and not any specific distro. My point was we should give alternate software a try when the proprietary stuff keeps enshitifying. Hence the suggestion to give FreeCAD a try.

I mean it’s free if you “don’t use it for commercial purposes”

Fedora, or as I like to call it: m’linux

Instructions unclear: wrote a DRM system that happens to have CAD functionality. Fr tho: FreeCAD 1.0 is actually usable now and 1.1 looks to be like its true turning point when it releases. Already using 1.0 for most projects, else I just use Onshape in the browser which is way better than Fusion.

I tried almost 30 years ago but fucked it up. Been trying every couple years since about 20 years ago. But even now in my first year of full-time with it, I’m missing a decent vector graphics app.

While providing tech support for my FIL:

FIL: What's that screen?

ME: The terminal. You should never use it.

FIL: Never?

ME: So you know how I'm allowed to watch you open the electrical panel and swap out breakers, but I'm not allowed to ever open up it myself?

FIL: Ah! I understand, thank you.

Time for everyone to switch to Linux

It’s already outside 😅

Getting ready to redo my kitchen layout… so much room for activities. But what’s that there? God fucking damn it.
A photo from inside Gary Bussy showing the area behind the drivers seat showing a microwave on a rolling storage cart and right behind the driver seat is two modified EV batteries. A close up on one of the batteries showing its cells have swelled enough to unsnap the separators meant to contain them as a pack. It is fanned out from the top A photo showing both battery packs with the one on the right looking normal

The arrrs apps are a godsend, but music tagging is as always still a mess.

Chatted with @graphiteeditor.bsky.social at Maker Faire and am very excited for desktop builds. Also decided to try some of the node features on a logo concept - just a simple offset repeat, but it's parametric and live editable - stroke, path, etc. very cool shit.
A screenshot of graphite vector editor showing a logo for BACA Autotronics in a thick italic sans. A graphic to the left consists of 3 identical swoopy lines representing a road, water, or bacon. There is surrounding UI with a node like interface of some steps used to create the image

Generally wire to board is better to have a connector rather than direct solder in automotive applications. I’ve been using Anderson PP for a lot of stuff that needs a removable connector, but otherwise a bit overkill for my infrastructure stuff.

C.K JOK62000 JOKARI Cable Processing Set "Quadro" Multi-Coloured
Jokari Quadro Plus Cable Processing Kit Example integration of four functions in one wire stripper and crimping plier. The perfect synthesis of ergonomics and functionality. No those are speed holes

I’m being told it still works. It even says it right there.

Working on V3 with phone support and a built in flashlight. I’ll send a couple when they’re ready. That’ll hopefully be the proper release version.

Hey that’s my thing.

Ugh. I should have waited to update to iOS 26. It’s slow as balls on my 12 mini.

Yeah. I’m surprised I was still pulling upwards of 1000w till the day it crapped out. Though I was wondering why I wasn’t ever getting much more than that with 1450w potential. Does make sense that it cut out at near the high point of the day.

What year SAAB? I had an 06? 9-3
clomads.bsky.social
I’m certainly a few years behind on firmware updates
clomads.bsky.social
Yeah dude, it’s bad. Luckily I have a bit of extra cash to fix it. The right breaker seems to be in ok enough condition to run half my panels for now. I found some cool transparent breakers with an external control header that were only $5 more but won’t be here till Weds.

Thank you. I’m just happy the fire retardants did their job and I still have a home.

Also don’t combine solar strings like this. We can see the main source of heat is one of the terminals where I doubled up wires and probably had a bad connection. Also use ferrules. Always use fucking ferrules.
