Need to keep saying this:

Again imagine the reaction from US corporate media and Congressional Republicans if a 79 year old Democratic President sounded like this - having no idea what is happening around him.
O'DONNELL: Why did you pardon Changpeng Zhao?

TRUMP: Are you ready? I don't know who he is

O'DONNELL: His crypto exchange Binance helped facilitate a $2b purchase of World Liberty Financial's stablecoin. And they you pardoned him.

TRUMP: Here's the thing -- I know nothing about it
I empathize with Blue Jays fans. I also find this meme hilarious. (h/t to Reddit user u/exequutor)
Blue Jays fans now know the second most painful feeling in baseball: losing game 7 of the World Series in extras.

The most painful being, of course, doing it twice (*sobs in Cleveland*)
Yamamoto’s gotta be MVP, right? Crazy we’d get there after Ohtani’s game 3.
I’ve always thought Blake Snell looks familiar and just realized it’s because he’s a thinner Danny McBride.
Haven’t read The Pillars of the Earth, but the others definitely earn the time commitment they demand.

To answer your question, Against the Day. I love Pynchon, I’ve held it in my hands multiple times debating whether to check it out of the library, but have never gone through with it. Someday…
Also, when he joined the Angels, they weren’t a laughingstock. They were one of the best teams of the 00s and had four winning seasons between 2011-2015 (per B/R). They went 80-82 the year before he joined.
Watched A House of Dynamite. The first two sections were outstanding. Kathryn Bigelow is excellent as sowing tension. Acting is terrific. The music elevates. There are some uh-ohs with the plot, which have already been discussed ad nauseum on Bluesky and elsewhere.

Regular thumbs up.
It’s more like Hack-a-Shaq than flopping.

It definitely stinks, but I don’t know how MLB would enforce such a rule.

And as a member of the longest suffering fan base, I wouldn’t care what strategy my team uses to win as long as it wins one Series before I die.
Tell the French it’s American for penalty shootout where players are now having to kick a second time
I’m pleasantly surprised how many baseball skeets I’ve seen without even having to go to the MLB feed.

I’m afraid that with every new inning Rob Manfred is going to invent another stupid rule to make sure the die hard fans don’t get to enjoy something like this ever again.
George Saunders has a new novel on the way! Sad to see Phoenix/Tempe isn’t on the promo tour, but excited for the book nonetheless. He claims it’s his craziest! 📚💙🖋️
Next year we’re gonna get BetGPT, like BetMGM but something something it’s better because it’s AI
On top of the now 78 year drought and the ‘97 and ‘16 game 7s, losing to the team you beat in the regular season, who only made it b/c MLB owners realized they could get more money by letting in extra wild cards, money that they don’t use upgrading the roster, is a dick punch and a half #guardsball
For the record, there already was a Major League III. It stars Scott Bakula and a young Walton Goggins, and it’s incredible.

I’d honestly have been less surprised if you said Kluber was lacing up for game 1 than that bit about DeLauter. Vogt is a wild man.
A Rangers pitcher plunking a guy with the bases loaded to eliminate the Astros is objectively hilarious #Guardsball
“We're going to keep fighting every single day until we're either popping champagne or we're out of it. That's who we are. We're going to fight every single day.”

That was Stephen Vogt on Aug. 24, after a sweep to the Rangers. The champagne is ready.

Walk-off HBP (!) sends Guardians to postseason, punctuating remarkable run
CLEVELAND -- It was Aug. 24, when the Guardians wrapped up a nightmarish 1-5 road trip that knocked them under .500 for the first time in nearly a month. At 64-65 and losers of eight of nine games, it...

Anybody else think of this?
If I was Tylenol I’d rebrand to “Raging Fever Killer,” or RFK for short, and see just how scientific yesterday’s announcement really was
Ooh the #booker shortlist came out today. Who’s winning?
So many people skeeting “I told you so” about the rapture like it’s already midnight

Today, the president of the United States of America said that the country's current pediatric vaccine schedule was "too much liquid... going into that baby" and then issued a decree announcing that anti-fascism is terrorism
The line that gets me is: “I’ve been so into this issue for so many years because I couldn’t understand how a thing like this could happen.” It’s spoken by a man who leads a country with more than a million doctors capable of answering the question.
Trump: "I think it has -- I think it's very bad. They're pumping, it looks like they're pumping into a horse. You have a little child, a little fragile child, and you get a vat of 80 different vaccines, I guess. 80 different blends. And they pump it in. So ideally, a woman won't take Tylenol."
I don’t know what upsets me most:

(1) the announcement itself

(2) the realization that now they proclaim to know autism’s cause, they’re going to set their sights on another group of marginalized people

(3) they’re going to start blaming neurodivergence on mothers
