Today’s Memorandum of Understanding is welcome news for Calgary and for everyone across Canada whose livelihoods rely on Alberta’s energy industry. My thanks to Prime Minister Mark Carney and Premier Danielle Smith for advancing an agreement that supports investment and, critically, new export routes for Canadian energy. As Calgary’s mayor, I see every day how essential this industry is, not only to our downtown and our economy, but to the prosperity it creates across the country. And as we diversify into tech, finance, and emerging sectors, we must continue to own energy in all its forms: oil and gas, renewables, hydrogen, critical minerals, and the innovations that help us address climate challenges while keeping our economy strong.
