Council passed Carlina’s bill to fix a gap in supportive housing rules, ensuring time spent incarcerated counts toward eligibility. This will help break cycles of homelessness, improve health, reduce recidivism, and restore stability for our most vulnerable neighbors.

We’re expanding 7-day library service! 📚

Last year, we fought hard to restore the mayor’s cuts to 7-day service. This year, 11 new branches will have Sunday service thanks to the $2M we proposed and secured.

See you on Sundays!

Two years after the Council passed a law to expand mental health care in the city’s family shelters, 75% now have on-site social workers.

Early data shows that more families are getting care and fewer crises are occurring, a critical step toward breaking the cycle of homelessness.

Today the Council passed Int. 423-2024 to require oversight and transparency when someone dies in DOC custody. 41 people have died in city jails since 2022. Amid continued violence and neglect, we are demanding accountability and action. New Yorkers deserve nothing less.
