The official response of @DefenceHQ @BritishArmy to the Jaysley Beck case appears to be “we will put more women on court martial boards”. This has absolutely no relevance to that case and just gives the impression they are desperately scrambling for something to say

Today in court we heard that Jaysley had been “the epitome of the kind of person we want to join the Army”.

This week a Coroner is investigating the circumstances of teenage soldier Jaysley Beck’s death. We’ve already heard a lot of evidence about the alarming behaviours of her immediate boss and an allegation of sexual assault that was not investigated.

These attacks on Richard Hermer KC are an attack on the rule of law. Barristers have to take the cases that come their way. It’s called the cab rank rule. He also acted for the family of a soldier murdered by the IRA.
