Today's deep-cut deity: Sirius, deity of the Dog Star, brightest star in the constellation Canis Major. Sirius is associated with extreme heat of late summer & is where we get the expression "dog days of summer." So during the next heat wave, shake your fist at the stars and ask, "Why so Sirius?"
