We're not paying taxes this year, right?
So... what's our plan for becoming completely ungovernable???

This Fiona Apple narrated explainer PSA on how to film (and release footage from, not livestream) ICE arrests is exactly what we need from people with production skills right now and is worth about 3 million celebrity โ€œimagineโ€ covers in terms of survival utility

I know people are frozen. I guess what I hope people will realize is that there's not some fundamental difference between people who organize/protest/resist in an active and visible way and "regular folks." It's just the decision to take the risk that separates us.
A lot of people are frozen in their fear right now and do not know what to do, even though they are horrified by what's going on and may want to act. When you witness other people take to the streets and resist publicly, it can help thaw that freeze and provide a model for what is possible.

I'm trying not to be bitter. I want to make leftist spaces safer for everyone, including folks who are new to the movement and may not have had perfect politics in the past. But damn people need to wake up to who has been doing all this labor up until now!

Lots of folks are asking "where are all the protests?" Y'all...the people who organize the protests are the ones being targeted. They've gone underground to support their communities and form response plans. The question is: where are the folks who haven't been impacted (yet) but are "full of rage?"

Seen on my news and academic feeds today:

"This is highly illegal!"
"Where are the courts?"
"Someone needs to arrest him/them!"
"The military needs to oust them!"
"WHERE ARE THE DEMS?"

This is the denial stage of grief. None of the above institutions are coming to save us.

We are all we've got.

They are all cis, straight and a wide range of ages, btw. Gonna keep this list of 'previously unimaginable good things' going so I can look back at it on hard days.

Lots of previously unimaginable things happening right now, and not ALL of them are bad. Yesterday I sat down late to lunch with a group of white male colleagues who were having a conversation about how to resist the government. Could never have imagined that a year ago, and I'm not mad about it.

Ohhh so this is why they needed to build all those deportation camps!
America has been emptying youth prisons for more than 20 years, and crime has dropped. It is a triumph of public policy, writes James Forman Jr.

This is my favorite picture of Stonewall.

They knew they were getting arrested just for being LGBTQ+.

Yet... they're still here, standing outside of the boarded up Stonewall Inn, smiling as the world was at a fever pitch of hatred against them.

I think about it a lot in moments like this.

It's not lost on me that a huge reason why some schools are able to keep ICE from entering are because of their school shooter precautions. It's a twisted silver lining to our lack of gun control.
