1. Detroit resident - wants to invite them to come anywhere else to have their meetings, does not want their meetings to be in the Coleman A Young building.

Response, they are planning to be a 'roving' organization and meet in different places each time.

They ask the speakers to stay around for a photo, and anyone in the audience to be part of the photo as well as they are trying to document their progression as an organization.

Subcommittees convene at 4:30 on the days of their meetings.

Next up on the agenda are updates/reports from subcommittees.

There are none - there is a motion from the chair to remove these subcommittees and reform them related to the upcoming event.

Their very first meeting was in April this year so they are still forming and learning.

Chair Bullock encourages the speaker to be efficient with her presentation because they try to be done with the meeting by 6:30pm. There is still a lot on the agenda, so we'll see about that.

She notes that AI has helped many people create business plans but not all are high quality, some are just outlines.

One of the biggest questions they get is what documents does someone need to apply.

They need a business plan, financial projections - they have a technical assistance team that can help build these - last three years of tax returns, last three months of bank statements.

Typically their microloans are $50,000 with an 8% interest rate.

They are not just a lending institution, but educate small businesses on what to do with the funds and understanding their finances. miwf.org

First is a presentation by Tanesia Greer from Michigan Women Forward (MWF)

She is the business development manager at MWF, a non profit founded in 1986 to support small businesses. They provide microloans to small businesses.

Salinas asks for clarification on the age group for the event - Bullock said she had 12-25 years old in mind but it can be discussed more in the subcommittee.

Duggan suggests moving this conversation to a subcommittee.

Carr mentions involving Girl Scouts and sorority youth groups.

Perry-Mason suggests having an honorary sub-committee with just the youth so they can have their own space and ownership. They have a large base of youth with a former money program.

She stresses they have to involve Google, Microsoft, involve AI, ChatGPT, interactivity.

Vice Chair Jackson makes a point that they need to include young people in this conversation to make sure the event is relevant to them. Some may want to be vendors as well. '

Commissioner Parker suggests making DPSCD a partner and to involve the school district.
