Beautiful countryside is essential to #MentalHealth and well-being. The Colne Valley Regional Park is a fantastic resource for 3m people living on the edge of #London but if it is to be preserved for the future we need your help.

That canal side stroll was as good an antidote to the workday blues…for I had beaten off urban stresses in their own territory.

Floating Pennywort poses a continuous threat to our waterways, starving them of oxygen & choking drainage systems. It’s a shocker - it can grow up to 20cm a day & regenerate from a small fragment. Until 2014, this horribly invasive plant was still on sale

This small group of #volunteers from @awscloud.bsky.social worked really hard all day along a section of the Colne River on Harmondsworth Moor to remove invasive floating pennywort.

Our response to (yet another) huge data centre proposed in the Green Belt. All of these are considered in isolation with no masterplan for the cumulative impact or a strategy to protect and improve important green corridors for people and wildlife

The Government simply must enforce its ‘brownfield first’ policies.

It’s not ‘blockers’ or ‘bats and newts’ that are stopping much-needed houses being built – it’s housebuilders. They already have permission for 770,000 homes, but instead of getting on with the job they want to build on Green Belt first. @theguardian.com

Almost 1.5m homes could be built on brownfield sites in England, report finds
Exclusive: CPRE study suggests housebuilding targets can be met without encroaching on green belt land

Excellent inspiring day spent with the Trustees and the Colne Valley Park team at #Denham Waterski Club on Thursday; brainstorming on how we can better protect, promote and enhance the Regional Park. Many thanks to Robin for his excellent hospitality.

Always lovely to spend an afternoon with the kingfishers at @maplelodgereserve.bsky.social. This female was out fishing immediately after the rain on Sunday.

Plus bonus migrant hawker dragonfly pic.

Stunning sky this morning. Glorious walking along the Grand Union Canal to #Denham country park past Frayes meadow. A reminder of how lucky we are to have the Colne Valley Regional Park.

They also cut back vegetation from one of the lagoon viewing platforms which had become completely engulfed. A big thank you to these hard working #volunteers.

Great work from these #volunteers from @heathrow.com who spent the morning at Arthur Jacob Nature Reserve in #Horton near #Windsor cutting back overgrown vegetation from around the site’s footpaths to help improve accessibility to reserve users.
