I’m Ian! Hi everybody. My avi used to be an angry Hulk but this is me.

I still post a lot about the Hulk though.
A photo of myself in a green shirt, smiling.

I’m a white guy in my 40s with a salt & pepper beard.

If you told me “PAD and Chuck Austen worked on a comic about a naked girl who lives underwater” I’d have assumed it was sold in a black polybag and was perhaps not legal to distribute through the mails.

The comic was penciled by *Chuck Austen* of all people. Insane.

How either he or PAD managed to rein in their horniness for the time it took to produce a comic that could be read by children, I'll never know.

Been spending a lazy Sunday going down a MASSIVE rabbit hole learning about Disney comics publishing, and this is how I've learned for the first time that PAD was VERY insistent on being the writer for a 4-issue Little Mermaid comic published by Disney, and also did a 2-issue Sebastian miniseries.
A photo of writer Peter David with text from the Blog icanbreakaway.blogspot.com detailing how David came to work on The Little Mermaid comics published by Disney.

In relevant part, the text reads:

"... David (...) approached Len Wein at the 1990 San Diego Comic-Con and exclaimed: 'I hear you're doing a Little Mermaid comic. You better let me write it or I'll break your legs.'"

Nothing is more exciting when I develop some random fixation than finding a good, old fashioned, BLOG that someone wrote over a decade ago.

I wanted to learn more about the Disney Comics Implosion in the 90s and I've been reading entries on the same blog for an hour.

The internet used to be good!

I saw it when it came out and I'm realized I remember almost none of it aside from the last scene lol

I did remember it being an EXTREMELY uncomfortable movie and I was right about that. It's also very funny.

Anna Faris... you deserve the world.

We are approaching PEAK October coziness tonight as I've finished my workout, have a giant deli sandwich from down the street, and am sitting down with May (2002) on Criterion

Diane Keaton died????

Fight scenes in general tend to not be very interesting to me* - I zone out - and I really did forget how long some of them go on here!

*Unless we’re talking like, 80s Michelle Yeoh movies or similar.

I feel like that won't stick but I do think they underestimated how attached people got to the cast.

I’m bad at long comics reading projects because there’s always a high likelihood that between issues I’ll just be like “But what if I reread all of Calvin & Hobbes real quick.”

I agree with you about season 2 - for me it's the weakest of the three (despite how much I love the Punisher even!)

Defenders, from my recollection, is unfortunately very boring, and manages to somehow waste SIGOURNEY WEAVER.
comicbookian.bsky.social
Yup, I had the exact same experience.

They're ALL like that - like they sprung it on them at the last minute that the season needed to be longer so they spend a few episodes treading water.

I wish they would have used the time for some one-off episodes.

Look Daredevil is obviously a good show but I will NEVER forgive them for killing off Ben Urich like that, especially when Vondie Curtis-Hall was fantastic in the role.

One of the best characters on the show and they just waste him like that - booo.

Going through season 1.

I love Wilson & Vanessa’s developing relationship in this season and I vastly prefer when Vanessa isn’t involved in the crime side of things.

Okay, I need to check some of those out then.

I saw Crisis on Two Earths and that's about it - for some reason I always ignore them!

I usually skip DC animated movies, but if Azrael's gonna be in this one...

A multi-part animated film adaptation of #BatmanKnightfall has been announced to be currently in production at Warner Bros. Animation, as per @newyorkcomiccon.bsky.social.

#Batman: #Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall is set to release in 2026!

God every Kingpin scene in this season hits so hard.

You don't come back from being defeated with a trick arrow on a Hawkeye show, unfortunately. You just don't.
