If they made a Mega Evolution for Alolan Slowbro, would they call it Mega Alolan Slowbro, or Alolan Mega Slowbro?

Yen Sid actually doing something great, even if it’s just single scene. At this point it’s hard for the story to seem authentic to me, all I see are the narrative blocks the writers have to move around to conclude this massive series. Accepting that, it’s hokey but alright. More to come.

Okay, played a little more. Looks like this initial team loss is all in service of an eventual Union Cross payoff. I can respect that. Having attempted to understand the deep lore, I got a little hype seeing the Union Leaders keyblades. And now we can have the battle proper.

Yeah, to be fair it is the most Heartless we’ve ever seen at once. At I can understand Ven and Aqua being kinda dumbfounded fighting Terranort and not doing there best. It’s just the combination of all these things.
comicfoil712.bsky.social
I think there’s gonna be a second rally after Sora comes back from being sorta-kinda dead. And maybe then our heroes will get a chance to shine. But you’d think we’d get to see the team be at least a little competent before this 11th-hour moment.
comicfoil712.bsky.social
The Heartless swarm shows up and it looks like it’s gonna be a fight where Sora’s backed by Riku and Aqua, but no, this is one of those Heartless swarms we can’t beat (unlike the last one we totally beat like it was no big deal) so we get cutscened to oblivion. Darkness kinda deserves this win.

Donald and Goofy were the only ones to really accomplish anything after that initial Heartless swarm. Terranort practically soloed the whole team! Ven got knocked out, Aqua reacts startlingly slowly, Lea has to chump block Kairi, Sora jumps in with his BACK TURNED!? Riku and Mickey just stand there!

I’ll give them this: I’m glad they let Donald and Goofy come along, smartest thing they’ve done so far. They can’t wield Keyblades and don’t count towards the “Seven Lights”, but who says they have to strictly follow that prophecy and agree to fighting outnumbered? Bring some back-up!

I’ve been playing Kingdom Hearts 3 lately and enjoying it well enough. But I just got to the Keyblade Graveyard and man are the Protectors of Light looking like a bunch of idiots.

Awesome! Loving this series so far!

Love it! Having him reading the pamphlet is great for The Magician Card too, since the Magician is usually the force that pulls the Fool into their journey.

The concept of how the pyramids “function” is more Pratchett fantasy brilliance. And as always his writing is full of amazing turns of phrase. So it’s a fun read but the story disappointed me given its premise. I haven’t heard much of Teppic being a big character in the series, maybe this is why.
comicfoil712.bsky.social
The third act has a huge shake-up that almost makes the journey there worth it, with an amazing side-story of the dangers of mixing religion in government. But they kept cutting away to characters I really didn’t care about which made each story feel like they t was going too slowly for me.

It’s two very big premises that don’t crossover super cleanly, but he’s a likable character and the kingdom he takes over is full of interesting commentary. The second act drags on with Teppic having to put up with the restrictions of the throne and all the old traditions.

87. Pyramids

The ninth Discworld novel I’ve read. This one has a fresh premise, not following any of the previously established characters. Teppic is an assassin-in-training, which is really fun. He’s also the son of a pharaoh and becomes the new king when his father dies, interrupting his career.

Happy Birthday Penny! According to the bloodwork the shelter did when they found you, today is your birthday and you’re one year old today!!!

The Signs and other uses of the touch screen are superfluous, but I’m glad we found a way to make it work without the DS. You actually can use the touchscreen in Switch handheld mode, or you can use the right stick which is awkward but gets the job done. Leaps ahead of the GBA titles for me.

I think they found a good balance in difficulty here. I wasn’t slamming my head against the wall, but I didn’t find any game-breaking souls either (though maybe I just missed them). And limiting item stacks to 9 kept me from overpowering bosses with sheer wealth of potions.
comicfoil712.bsky.social
I think they could had made this story more impactful while still keeping it from getting in the way of the gameplay. But that said, the Metroidvania formula has gotten really good. Still dependent on random Soul drops, but if you’re not trying to collect everything it’s pretty manageable.

86. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (Dominus Collection)

I’m so happy the DS Castlevanias I missed are together on modern consoles! I finally got to play the second half of Soma Cruz’ saga. The story doesn’t get much deeper than its concept pitch unfortunately; it kinda rushes through.
