Fun Fact Friday: The first Intel CPU and the first commercially successful implementation of large-scale integration technologies, the Intel 4004 was a 4-bit central processor and proof of the capabilities of single-chip CPUs. Development began in 1969, and it was released in 1971, and the 4004 would lay the foundation for subsequent processors like the 8008 and 8080. Originally made for a calculator but then sold as a general purpose computer processor, the 4004 was sold for $60 in 1971 (or over $466 in today's money).
