As the industry tightens its belt to keep shareholders happy, the devs at the lowest rungs are the ones that get hit the hardest. It's this, or exiting public trading for private equity, usually Saudis now.
Ubisoft has closed its Halifax studio, it's confirmed to VGC, but claimed that the decision is unrelated to workers' recent decision to unionize.

In fairness, it is pretty bad, but in a boring way. There's so many stories here, but I'm not sure what kind of NDAs have restricted the devs from telling their stories more widely. I'm gonna do my best to put it all together for this next video.

I wanted to do a straightforward video on Mindseye, but the more I learned about its production and how the devs were treated, the more complicated things got. The story is so much worse than the game itself, and a lot of people only touched on that story in favor of "game bad".

I know they've updated Mario Kart a few times to fix completion, but it doesn't fix how unrewarding completion is, and I'm just not interested in going back in when there's such a long list of games I haven't played from last year. That soundtrack was unbelievable though, there's no denying that.

Several games didn't make this list, but honorable mentions were Hades 2 and Mario Kart World. Hades 2 would've probably been there if I had the time to play it, but there were genuinely too many games this year, and I didn't have time!

I am incredibly devastated hearing about this. Lamarr was a wonderful person and a great creator, and I'm so sorry for his family, friends, and loved ones. I'm lucky to have known him, even very briefly.
Just beat Prime 4 today. Overall, it wasn't one of those "blow me away" kind of games but I genuinely liked a lot about it.

I've been really enjoying Metroid Prime 4, but I've had a few friends say they were annoyed with the game telling them where to go. I actually got lost at a few different points so far, so maybe it just depends on the person?

Bumping for the weekend crowd! It's easy to go full rage-bait on the internet, especially with Nintendo, but the truth lies somewhere in between. Voting with your wallet isn't as easy or simple as some folks make it seem.

They're the richest company in Japan by a wide margin, and largely control legislation in multiple countries around the world. Your decision is less about what it means for Nintendo, and more what it means for you.

They're industry-leading bad guys and there's pretty much always a valid reason to hate them, just like Apple. They're also inescapable in many ways, and we shouldn't kid ourselves that anything will "stop" them from being horrible.

If all of this is, in fact, enough to cut Nintendo out completely, then by all means: make that choice. Unfortunately, because everything is driven by shareholders and somewhat divorced from consumer sentiment, Switch 2 will be a success no matter how many dozens of folks decide to boycott Nintendo.

Execs can re-interpret your decision however you want, and you can only vote "for" something, never "against". However, every purchasing decision you make does have a demonstrable impact, and I wanted the conversation to be more focused on your own personal decisions, and "ethical consumption".

I've been wanting to branch out to other kinds of videos besides just normal Completionist videos, but those are still going to come out as always! It's about trying to have a more sustainable workflow so that I'm not killing myself trying to complete a game each week like before.
