Day 12 of #Lasat #Lexember, and @conlangery.com 's prompt was "A word for flight-related anatomy". I was convinced I had a word for "wing" already, but my dictionary says otherwise.

#Lexember Day 12: word for flight-related anatomy

ŋ̰ɘg, a whisker or feather

G'sunan speakers group any hard, sturdy hair-like things together: whiskers, wings, even prominent eyelashes would be called ŋ̰ɘg.

Today, my prompt is “A word for flight related anatomy”. The easy way is to coin a word for “wing”, but you could also do parts of wings or, as I did, a support structure. #lexember

Day 11 of #Lasat #Lexember! The prompt from @conlangery.com was "a specific type of tooth". I saw the opportunity for three good ones. That consonant cluster in kusvrahdz is a mouthful - pun intended.

For Lexember 11, my prompt is “A type of tooth”, aiming for something specialized like a molar, a fang, or a tusk. #lexember

Today's #Lexember prompt from @conlangery.com was "an animal weapon". I ended up with three for #Lasat! Suprisingly, the hardest was elchet, "venom".

Another day, another Lexember prompt. My prompt for today is “an animal weapon”, essentially an animal body part whose function is to fight other animals, like a horn or antler. #lexember
The stabbiest tail

#Lexember 9 has the odd prompt "the body part of an insect" (blame @conlangery.com, not me!). Using Aq Sharush, the heavily inflecting language of a northern steppe empire, I formed the word "awudekh" - meaning "exoskeleton" (lit. guard-bone). With a relevant sample sentence to give a feel for it:

It’s Lexember ninth and my first prompt! “An insect body part. Now this can be a term for the insect version of a body part or a post part of insects that other animals don’t have. #lexember
Not that kind
What insect body part did you choose?

For @conlangery.com's prompt "Insect parts", 2 metaphorical extensions for #Lasat #Lexember:
jokarn /d͡ʒo.kaɹn/ n. thorax
Extended from jokarn, torso; from karn /kaɹn/ n. body. The source of jo- is unknown.
ozye /oz.je/ n. abdomen (of an insect). Extended from ozye, belly (mammal). A priori.

Sylvan has a proper internal name. Henceforth it is Khyisfafȕ [xʲis.faˈfyː˨]. This is a compromise form from Dawn’s Khyisefafȕ and Dusk Khithfafű, both contracted forms of a phrase meaning “The Fey’s Tongue” altered to have a class IV (parasite) suffix. #conlang #language #linguistics #dnd #ttrpg
