If this is how Mark Kelly is treated, imagine how impossible it is for junior officers to question anything that’s happening. This is why they needed to hear the message in the first place.
Hegseth is now threatening to recall Sen. Mark Kelly to active duty in order to court martial him.

My latest for @meidastouch.com For those who don’t understand what the Dems meant when they reminded the troops about unlawful orders, just watch A Few Good Men. It’s about honor.

A Few Good Dems Told the Truth and Trump Couldn't Handle It
Former Rep. Conor Lamb argues that Democrats were right to remind troops to refuse unlawful orders, and Trump’s furious calls for their execution only prove their point.

A president who wasn’t ordering illegal things would have no problem with what @deluzio.house.gov and Mark Kelly and the others said. They said troops shouldn’t break the law, which they shouldn’t.

Trump supporters need to think hard today about living in a country that can prosecute you on an indictment they switched at the last minute, like they did to Comey.

It started with immigrants, federal employees, murders at sea. This is police state behavior that is spreading like cancer.

An attack on Venezuela cannot possibly be about drug overdoses. Maybe oil, distraction, or something worse, but not overdoses. Venezuela is not where those drugs come from. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
Why Blowing Up Venezuelan Boats Won’t Stop the Flow of Drugs
President Trump says striking drug traffickers from Venezuela will prevent deadly drugs from reaching the United States. But the major smuggling routes are elsewhere.

More than 338,000 Pennsylvanians had their utilities shut off this year, a 16% increase.

The price of groceries has grown as much here as anywhere.

Our ACA exchange says prices are going up 102% next year.

The impact of Trump’s policies is no longer predicted or hypothetical. It’s real.

A 216 to 5 vote.

Response to @fetterman.senate.gov saying Dems shouldn't wait for Trump to show up with a dozen roses (though that is such nonsense, it almost answers itself).

Dem chairwoman of rural Crawford County PA, Lindsey Scott, talking about they kept chasing their voters till polls closed on Tuesday, deploying door knockers all day and achieving a record-high vote total for mayor. Inspiring stuff, all planned and executed locally. A lot to learn from.

Today at 2pm EST I’ll be live to discuss how PA was won this week, with newly elected County Executive Tara Zrinski of perhaps our swingiest county, Northampton.

It was an honor to speak tonight in Gettysburg, PA with @sykescharlie.bsky.social, @milestaylor.bsky.social, @conorlambpa.bsky.social, & @markhertling.bsky.social at a great, informative @principlesfirst.bsky.social event.

A lot of Democrats were out there fighting for democracy today. Thanks to them.

Great read about Priorities USA and @daniellebutt.bsky.social who’ve done a lot to help everyone across the Democratic spectrum better understand the digital environment. Best part, they’ve done it without forgetting campaigning is as much art as science.

The Super PAC Trying to Free Democrats From the Cult of the Quants
Danielle Butterfield thinks her party’s data obsession paralyzed it in 2024. Now she’s betting that a little chaos — and a lot of risk — might be what saves it.

If you’re a Pennsylvanian and you go on Pennie today to buy health insurance, reply here with what you see compared to last year. The big increase in price is because Trump raised your taxes and both our senators refused to do anything about it in time.

Congress set aside $6 billion they could be using right now to keep funding SNAP. Plus $23 billion more in a separate fund. Excellent legal brief by @governor.pa.gov and other states, which they never should have had to even file.

I’m a Democrat, and I love the military and its core values. I used to prosecute people whose lack of integrity made them unfit for our ranks. Time to drum Scott out of Congress and send his Democratic opponent Janelle Stelson instead.

Last night Fetterman voted to allow Trump to execute people at sea, today he wants to give him a Nobel Prize. Just no core principles.
FOX: Do you think Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize?

FETTERMAN: If this sticks. I think the whole point of having a Nobel Peace Prize is for ending wars and promoting peace. And if he brings the Ukrainian war to its end, I will be the Democrat leading the committee for his Nobel Prize Peace.

With this Nat’l Guard deployment Trump is openly defying a judge HE HIMSELF appointed, who worked for Ken Starr against Clinton, and was made US Attorney by Bush.

That’s where we are. He has no respect for the Constitution or the judges who put country over party to follow it.

Last night in Westmoreland, we talked about the patriotism of refusing to be divided and conquered, of staying on the same side of the street as the Good Samaritan, of lighting a candle rather than cursing the darkness.

Maybe in Hegseth’s next TED talk about higher standards he can address the lowering of our standard against murder. No matter how fit or clean shaven we can’t have a force killing people we aren’t at war with. Absolutely awful for military culture in addition to being wrong and illegal.
October 3, 2025 at 8:10 PM
This is a sad and dangerous moment. Whatever you think about Comey, what is new and totally wrong is the White House directing criminal prosecutions. A few short years ago most Republicans would agree that was unacceptable, because it is. Now they’re too scared.
