Copenhagen Suborbitals is a crowdfunded non-profit suborbital human space program, crewed only by volunteers working towards human spaceflight in our sparetime.
Spaceflight doesn’t start with fire and liftoff. It starts here: drilling tiny holes in a metal ring for our BPM25 engine.

These small holes control fuel flow — every careful step brings us closer to sending a human into space.

In our latest video we explain why a race car seat may now the best choice for the mission.
We also revisit the original home-built design and the Apollo-inspired ideas behind it.

We're closer to sending a human to space on a DIY rocket.

Big hole, big ideas. 🔧

We’re testing hatch designs to find the fastest, safest way for our astronaut to get in—and out. Every spark from the angle grinder brings us closer to sending humans safely to the edge of space—and learning what it really takes to get there.

By pure accident we stumbled onto something interesting: it might be possible to position our astronaut on the back.
It’s not essential, but like a Columbus egg, it’s a clever little discovery that makes you think, “Why didn’t we see this before?” Definitely something we’ll explore further.

We’ve milled the last fuel hole on the injector—the heart of the BPM-17 rocket engine.
This engine will test the stand for the BPM-25 engines of the Spica rocket class. Every cut, adjustment, and test brings us closer to the moment one of us climbs aboard a DIY rocket.

The capsule is getting back on the floor, and the angle grinder is about to roar. A big hole is coming - re-entering experimental territory.

Progress often begins with small adjustments — and sometimes with a racing seat.
We tested a race-car seat in the space capsule: comfy, practical, and much easier to work with.
If it can handle a racetrack, it can handle a splashdown. Step by step — closer to sending a human to space. 🚀

The capsule awakens
After years devoted to Spica’s engines, we return to her heart. Randy keeps watch from the top shelf as we ready her for a splashdown test: a seat, a dampening system, a truer shape. Each step brings us closer to a human riding into space — lifted by engines, carried by dreams.
