I'm particularly just here to be updated on what is going on the world, particularly politics. Every now and then, I might offer up a commentary on such posts. Not quite sure why anyone would follow me, but I'm not going to stop anyone from doing so.

Well, the funding lasts from fiscal year to fiscal year. Which ends in September. So, the current shit down keeps the VHA from being funded for the next fiscal year. Which we are in.

So, yeah, the VHA has no funding right now, because it is the 2026 fiscal year.

As a Navy veteran who was heavily reminded of such instances, I can say that it does not end well for anyone who attacks US vessels.

Not even getting into how the reason the US used for supplying the European Allies in WWII was because a U-Boat attacked a merchant ship. Or, ya know, Pearl Harbor...

Especially because, generally, classified documents are declassed after 25 years, with a 50 year max.

And why do they even have classified documents regarding Earhart in the first place?

Well, if I am understanding this right, this would mean that a president is not allowed to fire inspectors generals, but the positions are open. So, possibly, those seats could be filled with Republican puppets and the next president, if we get one, will not be able to remove them.

You seem to be arguing that if someone is against Israel, the nation state, it means they are against followers of the Jewish religion. Which is a very strange thing for an anthropologist to do as they are not.

Also, you should know better than to think an argument from authority means anything.

That's fair. And I do help in any way I can with donating whatever money I have, but, yeah, I just can't have a gun. Kinda a damn shame since I shot Expert with any gun the Navy put in my hands, lol. I do also give advice to folks who are learning to shoot, though.

Unfortunately, the ones who enforce the court's orders are under the purview of the Executive, for some fucking reason. I have never understood why the Executive has control over the DoJ.

Well, the U.S. is a relatively young country compared to most of the world. Maybe he just thinks the U.S. is underaged and thus he wants to do horrible things to it.

Well, for me it's been around southern California. L.A., Orange County, San Diego, and such. Places where one wouldn't think conservative fuckheads are around.

And I can't speak to their private talks. All I know is that people that passionate are not lying.

I can say that I do find some vets who do not support DJT out in the wild. However, every Legion I've gone to is nothing but MAGA nutcases. Had to be at least a dozen I've tried to hang out in.

I don't go to them after the third fist fight I got into over politics, and I dunno how many arguments.

I'll try again. Sometimes on Veteran's day when I get my free meals at Applebee's and Chili's, I have met vets with similar minds.

I've also gotten into fistfights, so, like I said, it's a crapshoot.

This year, if I meet someone cool, I'll try to keep up with them after we part ways.

Our current situation has been the culmination of the GOP's long game. Forcing delays on democrats attempts to put in, mostly, bipartisan judges. Then Trump's first administration focused on packing courts of all levels with loyalists. Now we see how easy it is to control the courts with sycophants.

i can't go to Foreign Legions because I will fight someone.

Support groups will obliquely suggest you're a communist if you don't step in line.

The Vietnam vets were more often of a like mind, but they are becoming few and far between.

I can't be anymore. One-third of the population said 'yes, please' to fascists and cheer on horrific abuses every day; not to mention praising the traitor and pedophile in chief. And another third just didn't care.

I'm proud of those who fight, but so often I just cry. I try, but it hurts too much.

Oh, I agree with you 100%. The way things have gone in the last ten years have made me embarrassed and ashamed that I ever gave up five years of my life in military service.

This is not the future my fucking friends died facedown in the dirt for. It's not the one I lost full use of my leg for.
