I *think* I have a slightly better grasp!
Exceptions occur on the Task if async Task.
The async voids should be avoided.
And, need to refresh the control after data loads. (which I wasn't doing and was why my value wasn't showing originally)

Unable to update work laptop to use dotnet 7 because it'll (I was told) prevent us from building our solutions locally.
Which also means I can't create any internal tools using latest framework.
I can't express how frustrating this is.
