So it was prob a good thing I missed #AdventureX as I wouldn't be enjoying some crunchy & colourful antibiotics for a mystery infection working its way through my veins, potentially trying to get into a vital organ or two.

Hold on.

My antibiotics are blue and yellow.

Like...the AdvenX logo?

Hope y'all have a great #AdventureX2025! Debated attending, but couldn't justify it given the expense vs my immediate need for new contracts (and let's face it, I'd only be adding to an army of writers there - many also looking for work).

As it turns out, I'm sick and in pain again, anyway, so...

Swear down, the mealy mouthed horseshit they'll use to explain this ("propping up the economy" "future proofing the country" "other nonsensical bullshit") will only be rivalled by the mealy mouthed horseshit that will follow when the AI bubble pops ("we couldn't get left behind" "the *economy*")

I'm so unwell today that my attempt at a healthy Greek yogurt, strawberries, jam and chia seed breakfast, ended up being a chia seed porridge with a splash of Greek yogurt and some indefinable red dots

Ah, we're at that time of year where all the tiny little flies emerge from the dozens of plants and flowers in every room of my house.

Which means I now randomly swat at black dots in the corner of my vision, and have to carefully check my glass before I take a drink, in case of any suicide divers

For real.

When the AI bubble pops and brings about it a new and brutal recession that touches all but the 1%, we'll look back at images like this and wonder why we didn't pay heed of all the very obvious signs that Hell was in the final stages of its global takeover.
This mural has gone up in Kingston, ostensibly for Christmas but AI has ensured it's actually to celebrate the return of our dark lord Cthulhu

My friend in one of our WhatsApp groups has been telling us about stories from an old German fairytale book. It includes:

- The scissors man who cuts off your thumb if you don't stop fucking sucking it

- The cats who warned the girl about playing with matches (and... lol)

I'm OBSESSED, holy shit

I didn't have the capacity to zoom up to Harrogate this weekend and then exhibit at AdventureX next weekend, so I'm going to be feeling huge Thought Bubble FOMO this weekend! Have fun everyone! Say hello to the Turkish Baths for me! Buy lots of comics!

I, too, harp for the bygone days where my only concerns were if I had enough pocket money to buy the Transformer toy I really wanted, if I could learn my times tables without getting caned by the headmaster, and wondering which racial epithet I'd hear next!

Still angry, but I've ordered cheap Asda cookie dough chip ice-cream for tomorrow's delivery, because Häagen-Dazs clearly hates life and money and doesn't do it anymore, so there's still time for my anger to get even worse

Working on my first feature film, my debut novel and on games barely alive due to lack of funding as I seriously ponder the need to go back to retail next year to survive, while AI bros and the government screech about the millions for their snake oil is fueling a very special kind of anger today

Getting back into Critical Role has been a soothing hug at the right time. I've been literally laughing and gasping out loud during some episodes, so might have to avoid watching on public transport, though.

(Or maybe just continue, but have a wild look in my eyes as I do, so people steer clear)

AI investment and the desperate need to find *any* use for it has rotted so many damned brains in the government that they're not even trying to slap a sticking plaster on a bullet injury anymore, they're attempting to put a prawn sandwich on a decapitation wound and call it progress.

All this James Bond "WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DOOOOOOO" hilarity brings to mind @patrickhwillems.bsky.social's excellent examination of the IP, and ultimately what will happen once the overthinking stops and the money people start tapping their watches.

A classic case of ignoring a simple answer in order to create an unnecessary problem.

It can't be overstated how much a growing reliance on nostalgia and crafting 'deep lore' and/or a shared universe for everything at the sacrifice of doing what's best for the story has stunted our creativity.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."
