I thought the buying and selling of consumer goods within capitalism also had the goal of perpetual profit growth? I'm unclear on how much of an improvement it would be to "go back" to that since the incentives for bad actors would still be there
Modern financial capitalism: a system where profit is generated primarily through the buying and selling of financial products (stocks, bonds, currencies, companies) rather than through the buying and selling of consumer goods. And where the goal is not just profit but perpetual profit growth.
