DC Council
@councilofdc.bsky.social
We’re the District’s legislature and a coequal branch of DC government. On social media, our goal is to engage in an informative and conversational way.
The shooting of the two West Virginia National Guard members is heartbreaking, and a terrible tragedy for the District, the nation, and all those who love them. We are heartbroken at this senseless act of violence.

Wishing all the best to Mayor Bowser after her tough but heartfelt decision to not seek reelection

During Obama, Biden, & Trump presidencies, a once-in-a-century pandemic, & DC athletic accomplishments, Mayor Bowser has been there for the District. Come 2027, she will be missed.

Wishing a day-late happy 60th! work anniversary to Marty Weil, who began work at the Washington Post 2 years to the day after the JFK assassination.

An intrepid reader sent a question in to the Washington City Paper’s epic Answers Issue about him & his answer is pure Marty.

In a year when we in the District
felt hamstrung, like we as a city weren’t being allowed to put our best game on the field, we never lost our spirit. Because we never lost our Spirit. We’re grateful to you as a team for the motivation and morale boost you provided #51stMinute

I hope it was just an oversight, but unusually, @nbcwashington.com did *not* close out the 11PM news tonight with its usual Friday “Easter egg” of playing “My Mood” by MFSB in a hat tip to the late, great Jim Vance, who first suggested the tune as Channel 4 outro music 50 years ago

One year ago today, this epic photo was taken. Of the *51* living Home Rule elected officials since the dawn of Home Rule 50 years prior, fully 46 of them were present that day. Living history!
