Yes, my great great grandad Rev Dr Cox was a grump, many opinionated letters to the papers. Discovered he wrote for the Church times as The Perambulating Pedagogue.

I know it from my family letters (not yet visited, I'm in Australia) My family went to church on holiday in Porlock. Think they wrote a full church of 30 was a squash.

One of the family lived in South Africa, knew places Winston mentioned, thought some aspects highly unlikely. Allegedly, Winston knew how to embroider to make a story more exciting and sellable

Is a memoir true or not? Nothing new in this - my family letters allege Winston Churchill made up chunks of his book 'London to Ladysmith' published 1900.

1939 decorated envelope for those who like writing #letters @letterappsoc.bsky.social Revd Aldwyn was in hospital for "stoppage of water" & his brother Bernard was trying to cheer him up & make the nurses laugh. Small son of Aldwyn's friend wanted to know "Daddy is the Archangel Cox getting better?"

Their mother said in 1906, no one writes letters properly any more, like when I was young 🤣 She said you should all write letters so you stay in touch, so ten siblings stayed in touch because they wrote letters to each other. Handwritten letters are awesome!

Siblings sad, they couldn't post the Budget to Dardanelles and Ber's ship. Many letters of his missing. Some locations described but not named (his ship was at Thasos), some letters get past the censors. Some of Ber's letters described by Vera. Much fascinating WW1 info that I need to write about
