i used to have a book that listed all his swear words.
oh right, the asian thing...
i wonder how growing up with stuff like that didn't turn me into a racist
ah, i see. when i read the comic books i was too young to care about what the captain drank. but still the name loch lomond stuck with me. so respect to hergé for choosing that name
oh, yea, i see that. as a kid i read and re-read them all the time. but especially the older ones were... yeah, pretty much racist. and a belgian of all people writing about africa in that way?
It was first mentioned in the 1966 English-language edition of Tintin and the Black Island (replacing Johnnie Walker in the original), although it remains ambiguous whether or not Hergé came up with the name on his own.[9] (2/2)
quoted from wikipedia: "Loch Lomond" is also the name of a fictional brand of Scotch whisky consumed by Captain Haddock in Hergé's famous comics series The Adventures of Tintin.[8] Despite the name, the whisky has no connection to the real-world Loch Lomond distillery. (1/2)
oh wait, after checking wikipedia: they are not even connected at all. hergé seems to have made up a name that sounded scottish, not knowing about the actual destillery. before that the captain drank johnny walker.
at this point i'm not even sure if you're being sarcastic. assuming that you are not: yes way! and iirc it exists because of the comics. it's not even expensive

there actually is a scotch whisky called loch lomond
that he would gladly give up his german name? i do
he would have a few choice words to say.
just enjoy the few years until we eventually catch up.
oh, it probably won't. but as a european on the european continent i don't imagine that i have much influence on the europeans on the american continent anyway.
