The author, Terry DeYoung, argues that from a Christian perspective, a keystone of American culture, which worships a god of justice and teaches people to stand with the oppressed, it’s difficult to understand how people can support the Trump administration in these actions.

Many of the rules exist under the lesser known “Section 504” of the Rehabilitation Act. Disability rights groups warn that removing them will likely create legal confusion, inaccessible spaces, buildings and services and commit civil rights violations.

The Department of Energy, as an example, is attempting to rollback around 50 years of accessibility regulations for buildings funded by “federal dollars”. Which will result in less accessible public spaces for everyone.

More broadly, there’s an obvious strategy to scale back civil rights offices, reduce funding in disability programs, education and support services, and essentially dismantling enforcement mechanisms.

Trumps first week set the tone, with the “Accessibility” page and all American Sign Language (ASL) content being removed from the White House website. ASL interpreters are also no longer included at emergency press briefings.

Under the Trump administration, executive orders for “Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing”, are threatening legal protections for people with disabilities. This includes revoking protections and weakening or removing accessibility requirements.

Accessibility is frequently left out of Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) conversations. There’s advocacy for adding it, to become “DEIA”, to ensure the voices of disabled people are still heard.

Haha! I find with phones the exposure is always all over the place. It’s just a big fuzzy orb

Awesome shot man! I didn’t even have my camera. I got a shan iPhone photo of it coming up over the sea, and then it went behind the clouds for hours haha!
The moon at dusk rising over the sea at Tyne mouth with the concrete pier and lighthouse in the foreground. There’s a steering wheel just out of shot at the bottom right showing a half arsed attempt to take a photo through a car windscreen!

The Bad UX World Cup is accepting entries for 2025. You have to design and build a deliberately awful date picker component.

To be honest, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen some non-ironic date pickers in production that could win this thing! 🤣

The government have published an annual report on diversity and inclusion in Jersey. Whilst it’s a relatively low-key article, I welcome the publication of these kinds of reports, just to keep people transparent and accountable!

The report highlights better accessible parking as well more opportunities in education and work.

Thanks! I use a Sony A1ii, so it’s kind of cheating! 😅

I stopped using Cursor for 2 reasons:

1) It kept editing stuff I didn’t want it to or getting autocomplete wrong, which increased debugging time massively

2) I found I was forgetting how to code, so debugging or re-writing the mistakes became even harder

I think it’s an illusion of efficiency.

I’m endlessly torn between trying to stay online and active in my industry, and hiding, disconnected from the world in the wilderness. On that note, I’ve spent the past week in rural Spain taking pictures of wildlife. Here’s my favourite, of a Golden Eagle in Adamuz. ❤️

#wildlifephotography
A golden eagle perched on a rock. A very large bird of prey with golden brown feathers and a white tail. It has a sharp hooked yellow bill and its membrane eyelid is half covering its golden eye, mid-blink. It has its back to the camera and a wing half unfurled guarding its meal, whilst looking over its left shoulder showing a side profile of its face, and its spiked feathers down the back of its head, almost looking hedgehog like. The same picture as the previous image, but zoomed in closer to see the detail in the face.

Accessibility design annotations are only useful if everyone understands them.

Our latest blog post by @craigabbott.co.uk explores how shared language can help different teams avoid accessibility issues.

Does anybody know how to turn off the new pulse effect in the messages app on #iOS26. It’s really doing my head in, but I can’t find a way to disable it in any of the usual places.
