I saw a tiktok video this morning that got me thinking.

How is it possible that we live in a fandom where we come up with our own unique name, identity, characters, ect yet somehow there's people in the same fandom who can't fathom the idea of calling me by They/Them?

This may come as a shock to you but my name is NOT actually "Crash McCloud" so why is that we respect each other by those chosen names but not the chosen names we have outside the fandom?

My real name is Sam, it's as gender neutral as it gets, so why can't you respect that Matthew is now Sabrina?
