This thing could go two ways. Won't be another exit for days. So pack a small suitcase. Anything else can be easily replaced.

So I made a thing. It's got a lot of flaws and I think we'll all agree it could have been written by a 12-year-old, but it doesn't utilize even a smidgen of AI and it's a quick read, so I'd be pleased if you decide to check it out.

I got my copy of Craig Yoe's Captain LOL and Rubber Chicken, and it's genuinely great. So far, my favorite part is the free hole, which features much more creative joy than you might expect!

I nearly missed this. Happy birthday to one of the greatest minds to ever emerge from the species.

@garymongiovi.bsky.social I had never seen this Matania until today. An illustration from a Carson Napier novel. This made my jaw drop.

I took photos of Nazi graffiti in Grand Junction (in the alley north of Main Street) when I was here in the early '90s for a visit from NYC. We had just seen Nazi and Klan memorabilia being sold in Haggle O' Vendors a few minutes earlier.

Nothing sadder than begging for applause.

President Trump was met by silence as he began his Quantico address, a contrast from the rousing applause he expects at his speeches.

“I’ve never walked into a room so silent before,” Trump said. “If you want to applaud, you applaud.” wapo.st/4gSqzmS

“AI” isn’t a tool or technology or even a cluster of technologies with a misleading name. It’s the infrastructure at the foundation of a form of capitalism dependent on data brokering. We should be teaching our students about this and not teaching them about “responsible” use.

It amazed me even as a child how much tension and excitement he elicited with those simple, nouveau drawings. Half a century later, I learned about Pogany's film career, wherein he designed sets and decor for several films, including some of Eddie Cantor's best.

Thinking today (as I frequently do) about Willy Pogany, the artist whose illustrations for Padraic Colum's mythology books in the 1920s ignited my imagination so fiercely in the late 1960s. I spent hours and hours trying to draw like Pogany.
