Having not commentated for a while you notice new terms coming in. Sky using “the overheads” meaning overhead conditions rather than anything financial

When you watch associates play full members it is worth remembering that:

I) it is unlikely they have had any prep / time to acclimatise
Iii) it is unlikely they have been able to select a full strength squad

So not only is it David vs Goliath it is also rarely a level playing field

I commented there once on a European T20I tournment. Pristine ground and lovely South Downs backdrop

Just finished The Club by @rodlyall.bsky.social. A monumental achievement and a very important addition to the written record of cricket’s history. I’ll post reviews here soon.

Question: County cricket currently has a passionate community that follow it. If younger generations are much enamoured of T20 franchise stuff will that community dwindle to a cult?

Really looking forward to reading and reviewing this. May be an awkward read in the corridors of power @rodlyall.bsky.social

Does he bring Darren Stevens back? That would be a popular call

We all saw the downsides of England deprioritising the 50 over game at the Champions Trophy. There is an upside though as the One Day Cup not only gives an opportunity to young talent but also fans an opportunity to visit charming County outgrounds

Great to part of the vibrant and talented community of cricket writers at Pitch. Such a varied mix of subjects and styles

So I’d like to visit some county outgrounds this season. Any recommendations for the most charming?

I get asked quite a lot which are the up and coming teams in international cricket. Well I’m certainly very excited about potential in Uganda and Nigeria. Need some further investment to unleash potential

Was great to be interviewed by @norcrosscricket.bsky.social about my new book The Batmaker of Copenhagen. Delighted he thought it was a “rollicking read”

This is my latest book, an espionage novel based on a true story of a cricketing hero in WW2.
