Second, immigrants, including undocumented immigrants, are less likely to be involved in crime than Americans who were born here. Communities with high immigrant populations also tend to have lower crime rates, compared to otherwise similar communities.

First, violent crime in the US has recently been declining, following a spike in 2020.
