I go through spells where I literally *need* to create art (despite my very limited capability in this area). I've come to understand it as my psyche's call for balance when I'm working too hard. Something inside me says, "Enough stressing for now. Let's use your mind for something soothing."

I first saw Ghost as a kid, and it was the very first movie ever to make me cry. Tonight, 35 years later, I cried again like a baby. What a sweet, timeless, funny, riveting little story that is. I'll try not wait another thirtyish years before watching it again.

A restaurant-prepared bowl of cheese grits was so disappointing over the weekend that I'm cooking some tonight to reset my palate.

You can't just serve subpar cheese grits and expect me to move on as if nothing ever happened, doggone it. I have my standards.
