Very saddened to hear of Iain Douglas-Hamilton's passing. A towering figure in the study and conservation of African elephants; Iain was kind enough to arrange for me to stay in his research camp in Samburu, Kenya, and he flew up to speak with me while I was researching for my book "Beyond Words."

I was pleased to be with Edie Widder for the showing of her bio-pic "A Life Illuminated" at the Sag Harbor Doc Fest. Fantastic film about light created by living things in the deep-deep sea.
