Natural gas prices continue to be high due to cold weather across much of the country. When Minnesota utilities purchase gas at these high prices, the cost is typically passed directly to customers. Utilities are asking people to consider conserving energy through this week.

The extreme cold we're seeing across the United States, and here in Minnesota, is causing natural gas prices to go up. These increases are typically passed on directly to customers. As you're able, consider lowering the thermostat a few degrees.

🔌💡 Last year, we helped pass protections for Minnesota utility customers to make sure they don’t pay extra for the cost to provide power to data centers. In 2026, we’ll do the hard work of implementing these protections at the PUC. More here:
