I’ve heard “why should I bother to read something no one bothered to write” when it comes to AI-generated text.
It hurts me as a software developer to see people stop caring about code as a craft. People now seem happy now with code nobody bothered to write.

just 2 years ago I had organizers in my circle who felt all tech was bad and wouldn't even join a google meet call
now in my own group and others people are talking about self-hosting tools
hopefully won't take another 2 years to realize how hard it is to host infrastructure of any consequence

These days, out on a work trip, I wake up and see MIT through my window. It reminds me of Aaron Swartz and my dissertation on hacktivism.

1. Evaluate on a single metric and engineers game it (we are smart enough)
2. Code is increasingly promoted by AI
3. The single best eng contribution can be… not shipping code!
4. A 1-character change can have massive impact
