Another key point raised: studying RE is often misunderstood as limiting career options. In reality, it develops analytical skills, empathy and cultural literacy, all qualities highly valued across sectors from law to public service. #Religionmediacentre
culhamstgabriel.bsky.social
A recurring theme in today's @relmedcentre.bsky.social briefing: RE is not a marginal subject. It cultivates empathy, intercultural understanding and critical reflection, essential capacities for navigating an increasingly complex society.
culhamstgabriel.bsky.social
The decline in student recruitment and availability of funding is not unique to a small group of universities or to Religious Studies as a subject. Social science departments are being merged and closed across the UK, say academics. #Religionmediacentre
culhamstgabriel.bsky.social
What should department leaders do to stop the decline in the number of students taking Religious Studies at degree level? Some suggest a clearer "pathway" towards a PGCE in RE might be the answer.
