Please please PLEASE listen to @binarybreak.bsky.social if Digimon and/or theater of the mind actual play is your speed at ALL in any way. My only issue with it is that, now that I'm caught up, I'm gonna be pawing at the door like Olliemon for a whole month until episode 28 comes out.

Also!!! The characters!! And their relationships!!! The juicy interpersonal drama!! This is what I mean by how well everyone involved in the project understands Digimon. Every character relationship—between humans, Digimon, what have you—is rich with depth and chemistry it's soooooo tasty

And I think the relationship that Binary Break has with the music of its settings is really thoughtful and incredibly important. Like there's a lot of weight placed on how music is used and talked about yknow for example the way it's used to contrast the two seasons and their tones, settings, themes

I love Butter-Fly and Kojo Wada and the Japanese ost to death, but a lot of English speaking Digimon fans who have nostalgia for the series (myself included) cannot untangle it with the Digimon The Movie soundtrack with all of its '90s almost turn-of-the-century ska and punk music and such

You can tell the group has a particular fondness for the nostalgia of the old dub both in the ways they make jokes about censorship to the terms that they use ("rookie" over "child") but another way I think they capture that essence is the show's relationship with contemporary music?

The whole team understands the appeal of Digimon more than some??? actual official Digimon stories?? I mean Digimon is a pretty diverse multimedia behemoth, so it appeals to different people for different reasons, but like it fully captures what I loved about the original anime in a big way

It's not only incredible for a Digimon Actual Play Podcast. It's incredible as a story and as a work of art. Today's episode was phenomenal, but the whole story has been. I couldn't put it down & finished it in like 2.5 weeks
