No tricks, just fair treatment. ✊

This Halloween, the real fright shouldn’t come from your payslip or your workload. Every worker deserves fair pay, respect, and job security.

When we stand together, there’s nothing to fear. The CWU is here to make sure you’re treated fairly all year round.
When companies like Fastway fail, it’s workers left picking up the pieces.

That’s why workers need a strong collective voice. By joining the CWU, workers can stand together for fair pay, job security, and respect at work.

CWU General Secretary Seán McDonagh said:

“The company’s staff are paying the price for a business model that relied on low pay and poor conditions, but which ultimately couldn’t deliver.”

The CWU has called on Fastway to do the right thing and pay its workers.
Fastway also relied on up to 700 drivers through contract arrangements.

Some hauliers are owed more than €100,000, a devastating blow for families and small businesses across the country.

This isn’t just a missed pay check it’s a financial cliff edge.
Workers Deliver the Parcels, but Fastway Don’t Deliver on Pay.

The company behind Fastway Couriers Ireland has gone into receivership, putting around 300 jobs at risk and leaving hundreds more drivers in limbo.

Budget 2026: Breadcrumbs for Workers, Handouts for Corporate Giants

A 65c minimum wage rise and tiny USC tweak won’t cut it. Freezing tax bands drags more workers into higher rates.

Meanwhile, the government slashes VAT for the hospitality sector, lining the pockets of McDonald’s and Starbucks.
📢 Calling all trade union members 📢

We invite all trade union members to take part in a brief survey on occupational pensions and retirement expectations, conducted as part of the Young Scientist Competition.

According to the Irish Financial Advisory Council (IFAC) this bailout will cost every worker €600. In the current cost of living crisis, this is much needed support for workers and their families that is being denied to them in favour of large, profitable hotel chains and fast-food outlets.
Budget to force workers to bailout the hospitality sector at a cost of €600 per worker

According to promises made by this Government, Budget 2026 is set to give a massive handout to the hospitality sector at the cost of support for every worker in the country.

📢 TikTok cuts paternity leave & insists staff back in office five days a week.

This move undermines family rights and work-life balance. Changing leave entitlements while demanding full office presence shows a lack of respect for workers’ needs.

📢 TikTok is carrying out ‘stealth rounds’ of layoffs in Ireland.

After announcing 300 redundancies in March, smaller job cuts have followed with little transparency and growing fears that AI is being used as cover for outsourcing.
She said the forum will amplify women’s voices, strengthen solidarity, and support collective bargaining to improve working conditions.

Carol closed by stressing the need to organise more women—especially young women—into unions to build the trade union leaders of the future.

The CWU has secured a major pensions deal at An Post, eliminating the gap between pensionable and non-pensionable pay. Pensioners will see a 7% rise in 2025 (6% from January, 1% from June), bringing total pensionable pay increases to 22% in just over three years.
