In my world only witches can manage magic. Girls can become witches throug a complicated and long ritual.
I'm still thinking how could I explore the concept of "girl" to give it a wider intepretation than just biological but I need the right way to make it fit in the plot.

Spells are thrown mostly by gestures, tracing symbols or using potions. I don't like magical words (as magical words usually sound silly to me) so my witches are usually quiet.
Every way you use magic is centered on finding affinity with the matter you want to influence and focus.

Witches magic is regulated by a lot of rules about how to do enchantements, make potions or execute rites, however i'm trying to give also the idea that there is no "scientific certainty" in witch's doing, a lot depends on witch attitude.
