I DO keep plants until they are very much dead, however.
Especially the flowering plants.
Because the bumbles are still out.
And the perennials I, of course, never take down.
They sometimes get a trim so they don't break in places I don't want them to break.
And they get leaves.

The reason I like to put the garden to bed as soon as possible
is because doing so requires water
(washing out containers, etc).
Working with water in freezing temperatures is not pleasant.
Plus once the beds are resting, beneficial insects can nestle in them & not be disturbed.

This is the time of year when
I am trying to take down the dead plants and put the garden to bed for the winter
and
the Dear Wonderful Hubby is insisting the dead can reanimate and we should give them one more day to do this.

One of the outdoor spiders has decided to make the front door's magnifying peephole her home.
Which is suitable for this spooky season.
Because she scares the chocolate chips out of me every time I look in the peephole.
