Including the Aug. 19 incident in Collier County, he has been caught twice driving without a valid license. In April 2024, Cawthorn appeared to have rear-ended a Florida state trooper on I-75 in Collier County. That trooper was hospitalized but was released not long after the crash.

Court records show that the former politican has ran into several traffic issues in Florida since 2022. Since then, he has been cited or charged with three parking violations, failure to move over for emergency vehicles, driving without proof of insurance, and speeding.
