Even if you disable Snap, there's a good chance it may break during a dist-upgrade. See: https://ounapuu.ee/posts/2025/02/05/done-with-ubuntu/
It might work fine initially, but it will eventually break during regular usage/updates (generally due to Snap, or due to other Canonical shenanigans).
> You can get Ubuntu pre-installed (I heard that’s the better choice over Fedora for Lenovo) and select from a few curated options

Not sure where you heard this from, but Ubuntu is possibly one of the worst Linux distros you could've recommended.
KDE is not only more familiar and easy to use for newbies (familiar Windows-like UI), it's also a lot more customisable, powerful (doesn't require a bunch of extensions to make it usable), and has much better support for Wayland.
So as a result, it's not available for ~90% of the world's population, so I wouldn't suggest it as a general recommendation for a global audience.

> I use Project Bluefin which I’ve found to be fantastic

Why Bluefin (Gnome) and not Aurora (KDE)?
> Framework machine with Fedora

Unfortunately Framework only ships to a limited amount of countries. They also prohibit commercial resale and even go out of their way to block parcel forwarders.
This is old news, Proton-GE 20 was already out at the time you posted this. :)
From there I slowly moved on to customising my AUTOEXEC.BAT with a menu so I can directly launch my favorite games, eventually digging deep into CONFIG.SYS tweaks
for tricky games like BIOMENACE and making my own null modem cable for multiplayer OMF2097... Man those days were fun.
I would love to hear more about your experiences of your "good ol days". For instance, my earliest memories learning computers was on my cousin's 286, accidentally ended up learning DOS because I wanted to play Dangerous Dave and Prince of Persia when he wasn't around.
(to clarify, I meant videos that's not just a few seconds or couple of minutes. I know there are AI videos out there, but I wasn't aware people were making entire full-length videos on YouTube as "content" for others to consume.)
Wait, are you saying there are entire videos on YouTube that's AI generated? (Serious question. Like, I only follow very specific channels on YouTube, not sure what's "trending" these days).
If you really want shared storage between the two OSes, use exFAT. But don't use it for games or important data, because exFAT isn't very reliable unfortunately.
FYI, WinBtrfs hasn't had a new release in 1.5 yrs, & there are several unaddressed issues such as freezing and data loss. I'd recommend accessing your Windows data from Linux instead (and keep all your Linux-compatible games on BTRFS, and your Windows-only games on NTFS).
Unfortunately, this app is useless: it doesn't support UEFI, which is used by most PCs. You can enable CSM, but the average user (the target audience) doesn't know what it is and won't do it. Furthermore, many distros no longer support BIOS (e.g., Fedora).
