No, the ancient word was similar to the modern Spanish naranja, but the n was lost in Old French before it ever came to English (giving us a better word for "yellow-red"!) There are examples in English like "a nadder" becoming "an adder", though.

Can't be a coincidence that most of the sn- words relate to the area of the nose-upper lip? Snore, sneeze, snot, sniff, snort, snog all spring to mind.
