Pose studies and lightning tests on the in-game 3D model of Cryptosporidium 137 for Pandemic's 2005 game "Destroy All Humans!". Definitely a great way to see how photogenic Crypto can be! 👽

Back in 2005, "Destroy All Humans!" concept of playing as an alien invader roaming free in fully destructible open environments was something that had never been seen in a video game and the senseless destruction really comes into its own with the help of a good plot and two funny alien characters 👽

It seems to have fallen into the pit of lost memories, but there was also an action-adventure mobile game "Destroy All Humans!" from THQ Wireless and Big Blue Bubble. Also released in 2005, this little game came out a month before the PS2 and Xbox versions 👽

During the early stages of "Destroy All Humans!" development, Mat Brady designed a lot of concept art and storyboards.
Here's an animatic that shows some gameplay ideas on foot, in the flying saucer and also others like the real alien mode or creatures reproducing with the DNA of abducted humans!

Featured in many concept arts, early builds, posters and even visible on the back of the Destroy All Humans! box art, the Hypno Beam was capable of hypnotizing crowds of humans making them acting like hordes of zombies fowling Crypto. Sadly, it didn't make it into the final game 👽

Pictures from a "Destroy All Humans" early build of Capitol City back in 2004. This small map, which was not intended to be in the final game, was created exclusively for the E3 presentation. Some 3D models are radically different from the final game version, some were kept, others were scrapped 👽

When Space Exploration Inspires Humans to Build Outer Space-Themed Buildings~ The general design and architecture of the two "futuristic" looking towers surrounding the Majestic Base main building are direct references to the Los Angeles International Airport's Theme Building

The Cassidy's Restaurant of Santa Modesta. Here's a good example how things evolved in Destroy All Humans! From the concept arts, an early 3D model and the final version (which is visible temporary in the game before being destructed permanently) 👽

Interesting screenshot of a Destroy All Humans! early build back 2004. Here's some flying saucer gameplay above a very different version of Capitol City. The map, some 3D models and destruction effects looks different from the final version of the game 🛸

Interesting screenshots of a Destroy All Humans! early build back 2004. Here's some "on foot" and flying saucer gameplay above a very different version of Santa Modesta. The city was far more urbanized than the final game and some 3D models are completely different too. 👽

Another screenshots comparison between the original Destroy All Humans! (2005) by Pandemic Studios and its remake released in 2020 showing the impressive re-work of Black Forest Games on Unreal Engine 4. Santa Modesta beach looks definitely less empty and far more heavenly! 👽

Lot of ideas were totally scrapped in the final release of Destroy All Humans! (2005). Here's an example with this concept art for a welcoming billboard in Bay City, later renamed Santa Modesta, was never used in the game.
The "Bay City" name was later reused for the sequel 👽

For the Destroy All Humans! remake (2020) Black Forest Games did an impressive work to bring back the atmosphere of the 2005 original game. Here's an example with the "Blue Moon Drive-In" and "Bran Biscuits" billboards.
