I think his 'ok' face just about pushes him down to second on my list. But he's a pesky, moany little twat.
Does Arteta still play with the handbrake on with his team selection and approach in big games? I thought the left hand attacking selection was really strange.
The selection is only going to create more noise about his pragmatic/cautious/stoke city/Mourinho/not wanting to lose/snatch a win/defensively solid approach. Pick any label or none, but I didn't like his first 11 at all.
These are the moments when I feel like venting on Twitter. I'll resist though
I teared up when he scored. That was a fuck you goal from him to the doubters, including me. I just wish him to be an important part of what we do this season regardless of his future.
I teared up when martinelli scored that goal. Reminded us of how deadly he can be. I just hope he'll be a part of a winning team regardless of his personal career.
He's surpassed even saliba and Gabriel right now. Is there a more classy defender than him in the world right now?. Nope.
The signings we've made in defence 🔥🥶. Timbre is rock solid, calafiori is a Maverick. And now Mosquito 🥶.
By contrast, arsenal have apparently scored 20 goals from the 80th minute mark for that time period according to chatgpt.
That's a lot of late goals. The reverse of that could be Arsenal failing to turn draws into wins. Other than the late winner by Reiss Nelson against Bournemouth in the 2023 (btw arsenal scored the most 90+ winner for that season- 3 times by that point) Is that the difference between them and us?
He was scoring goals for fun for Dortmund, he's a robotic beast, it was a guaranteed signing for city. I know what Elliot means, his prolificacy in terms of goals has become so mundane that he's taken for granted. But no, he's got all the hype and more, deservedly so.
I can relate to that. The cliche with a lot of truth in it is that, once they regress to the mean, which is them getting good and winning matches routinely is what will decide if they win the league. Hopefully, they play like this the entire season and their luck runs out. wishful thinking maybe.
The occam's razor explanation is that they've been incredibly lucky so far. But the opposite of that could be either they'll regress to the mean, be a very good team and still win a lot of matches or hopefully they'll play not so well and they'll run out of luck and those late wins dry up.
Hi, I've been reading your blogs for years from India. Would you ever reconsider supporting Arsenal again? It's a sad to see you go and I miss the halcyon days of reading 8 blogs everyday - arseblog, 7 am kickoff, gunnerblog, goonerholic, man from east lower, a cultured left foot were my favourites.
I hope all the karma of scoring late and winning underserved catches up with them. But karma is either a dog or he doesn't exist. So, we'll have to fuck karma and control everything to beat them to the title.
Mistakes creeping into calafioris game as well.
Why are our injuries getting niggly/chronic/repetitive like white, Jesus, Havertz and even Tomiyasu. I fear saka might end up there. Touchwood. It's such a shame that we haven't been able to field our strongest 11 so often.
My questions are mostly stupid and rarely answered, but can you come up with the ridiculous task of predicting the consistency of our starting 11 so that we win the league? Like 30 plus starts for saliba, Gabriel, saka, Gyokeres, rice, Eze and Zubimendi
You might have already recorded the pod by now, but am I correct if I say that quite a few injuries suffered by Arsenal players turn chronic or recurrent- Tomiyasu, Jesus, Havertz, perhaps even zinchenko? Hopefully, Saka doesn't end up there.
That sounds like a great point. Am I imagining it if I think he's usually a big player against top 4 teams. What's his record like in the last 3-4 seasons?
Pretend this game was our 30th game in May, take the 3 points, learn and improve With their new signings, backed by a hopeful crowd, they were really up for it. Were the distances among players too big, though, especially in midfield, Clive? Passing and interchanges were also poor?
I can see both ways. They're getting isak and most likely Guehi and the Italian defender, Giovanni Leoni. They'll probably outscore everyone, but fitness of vvd and konate vital, and so many cup games to play as well. Btw, the amount of money they're getting through sales is insane.
Those jerseys from the 90s too! Fabulous.
I'll read it. Martinelli is turning out to be a strange player. He has pace, can dribble and strike the ball really well and on his day can be devastating. Alas he's plateaued and consistency is an issue. I'd still hate to see him go unless we get big money- upwards of 50m pounds.
