Having a principled stance on a hot button issue isn’t disqualifying in any way.

Making exceptions simply because it effects you personally makes you unprincipled, even in a hypothetical situation that was highly unlikely to happen.

You assume a whole lot to get to that conclusion. The most notable effects of his actions, statements & alliances are an increase in thoughtful conservative youth and many converted to Christianity.
