It's the depression era. You're the only gaffer around.

Read the cabaret's script and give the right actor the right spotlight - all in real time.

Play it on @itch.io here:

Nothing could have prepared me for seeing a Flash animation I made when I was 10 in a random video essay about Mario parodies

What I would suggest is making as many weird janky prototypes as possible to speedrun this loop until you hit something that you want to work on for a year, with a team or without

This year taught me how much I love learning and reading about history, but not particularly living in it. "There are decades where nothing happens, and years where decades happen", goes the quote.

It'll all be funny eventually, you know. Unfortunately, 'eventually' is not right now.

Things I did this past year:
- 2 short films
- 2 game jam games
- made a working proof of concept for a giant-ass imsim
- put that imsim in haitus 'cause oh god
- sent 200+ resumes
- finally got a full-time job
- did video art for an original musical
- finally beat persona 3 reload

Seeing 30+ notifications on this post out of nowhere is one hell of a New Year's Eve gift. Cheers y'all <3

I've been experimenting with level design and outlining the setting, but I work full-time so progress is slow. Hope to post more in 2026. And thanks again
Gave my "mouse-only third-person-shooter killer7 thingy" a full arena combat test, and it actually works

Yeah, I was just about to make a follow-up but forgot. Turns out Godot generated a giant collider on my root bone, which collided with literally everything else. Removing it (and fixing overlaps like you said) fixed the problem.

cool ragdoll godot

(seriously though, I found a way to fix the stretching, but why does it keep simulating forever)

Brendan always delivers short but extremely sweet & stylish games, and this one is no exception. Best edutainment I ever played, and funny to boot.
I released a small game today! Antibody One
blendogames.itch.io/antibody-one

- you are a cell inside the human body
- $1
- about 10-20 minutes long

Who said settings menus explanations have to be boring

Listen, @itch.io, I love your platform, but can you please implement stronger safeguards against spammers?
It seems like every other day I have to ban and report another one. Just adding a CAPTCHA if a comment has a link would go a long way

My #ScreamJam game got into the top 100 in the story category, and won (g)Host's Choice for "games that were especially innovative or unique"!

Thanks to everyone who played and voted for it, and if you've yet to play it, Halloween's the perfect time:

You see a monster smoking in the parking lot.

Investigate it, kill it, get food, think about your life, laugh, cry, drive away, or anything in between with 33 unique endings.

A cinematic horror-dramedy text adventure made for #ScreamJam 2025.

I won't be leaving itch, and I don't wish to imply that you should leave it. It's an important platform with a wonderful community.
That said, I won't be surprised if people do leave it for better alternatives.
September 16, 2025 at 11:37 AM
This might be a hot take, but I believe itch is riding off its reputation and the lack of any real alternative.
That's fine, but you have to actually keep that reputation.

Hell, there hasn't been any significant updates or fixes since *2019*.

I owe this audience to @itch.io , and I got actual job opportunities thanks to it.

I have cut the tiny dev team a lot of slack, but I agree this is getting silly. Not to mention the influx of scam and spam comments in recent months.
