Can remember when the #Bucs played the #Chiefs for the first time in 2020. They came out with a game plan that involved not covering or tackling Tyreek Hill and, amazingly, it didn't work out. Seems like the same deal tonight with Jahmyr Gibbs. #Lions
100/50 games -- 100 yards rushing, 50 receiving -- don't exactly grow on trees in the #NFL. Christian McCaffrey has the most among active RBs with 9 (playoffs included). James Conner is next with 6. I mention this because Jahmyr Gibbs already has one in the 1st half (106/54). #Lions #49ers
Versailles on the Potomac.
The entire WH complex is 55,000 square - feet.

The ballroom is over 90,000 square feet.

And they are destroying a large part of the WH to build it.

I hate these people.
Which can't be fixed on the fly. (It couldn't even be shored up in an entire offseason.) If they want to salvage anything out of this season they have to at least *try* not to play from behind -- and assume no lead is big enough. I'm not seeing that.
The Hitchcock movie about it would be called To Catch A Gutter Cleaner.
Stealing the French Crown Jewels with a ladder is the kind of plan that should only work in a Coen Brothers movie
Christian McCaffrey has 114 yards rushing and 72 receiving tonight vs. the #Falcons. The last 2 RBs to hit those 2 numbers in the same game are Christian McCaffrey in '23 (115/72 vs. #Cardinals) & Christian McCaffrey in '22 (121/72 vs. #Raiders).
It's more the slow starts. If you can score when you're down 10-0, you can score when you aren't down 10-0. So . . .
One of the biggest failings of any #NFL team is when they refuse to admit who they are. At their best, the #Commanders are, say, the '81 Coryell #Chargers. Every game plan should be: run the offense wide open, scored as many points as you can, and hope it's enough. They're not doing that.
Tom Brady is bringing that special something to the #Raiders that Derek Jeter brought to the #Marlins.
What can you say about a football team that feels no need to strike the first blow? That's the case with the #Commanders 4 games in a row now. They come out asking to be beaten -- and are usually obliged.
Something I overheard John Riggins saying the day after #Washington's season ended in the playoffs has always stuck with me: "Win or lose, the pay's the same!"
#Commanders #Giants
Public service announcement:

Most points ever allowed by the #Commanders vs. current division opponents:
#Eagles: 59, 2010
#Cowboys: 56, 2021
#Giants: 53, 1961
It's like Josh Harris walked into the building on the first day of the offseason -- sun shining, birds chirping -- and said, "OK, who are we going to turn into the Joel Embiid of this franchise?" And the obvious answer was Jayden Daniels. #Commanders
Whoever's responsible for this #Commanders defense -- the putting together of it, the coaching of it -- is having a very bad year. There are no answers in the buillding. At the trade deadline, I'd be selling madly. They don't need another Lattimore. Acknowledge their mistakes and move on.
The #Commanders brass had a big opportunity coming off a Final Four season -- with a star QB on a rookie contract -- and they're blowing it. Washington fans are beginning to understand why Josh Harris' 76ers, for all their glitter, have never been able to break through. A different kind of hell.
Matthew Stafford did something today that had never been done in #NFL history. He threw 4 TD passes of 5 yards or less and -- here's the record -- they totaled only 9 yards (5, 2, 1, 1). Previous mark: 10 by Patrick Mahomes vs. the #Cardinals in 2022. Only 3 others have had 4 of < 5 yards. #Rams
The Red Grange game vs. Michigan in 1924 was outrageous for its time and had some duality: 3 long TD runs (67, 56, 44), a shorter one (11), plus a KOR for a TD (95) & he threw a 20-yard TD pass. 39-14 game, so it was basically all him.
Once again, let's hear it for the hold-in, a great way to sabotage any season.
Commanders coach Dan Quinn tells reporters that WR Terry McLaurin is out for Sunday.
Busy night for Ja'Marr Chase vs. the #Steelers: 16 catches, 161 yards, 1 TD. Just 10 other times in #NFL history has a receiver his those 3 numbers in the same game. Brandon Marshall is the only one to do it twice. He, Terrell Owens & Tom Fears all set a record for receptions in a game. #Bengals
Wide-open receiver standing in the end zone between 2 lampposts posing as a zone defense. As my college psychology prof would say, "Diffusion of responsibility!" #Steelers #Bengals
If he can keep up the pace this season, the #Colts' Jonathan Taylor would average 100+ rushing yards per game for the third time in his career (minimum: 12 games). The only 2 RBs in #NFL history have done it more:
7 Jim Brown
4 Eric Dickerson
#Browns #Rams #Colts
TLC = Terry Limited Capacity
Terry McLaurin returned to practice today, albeit in a limited capacity.

DNPs for Dorance Armstrong (hamstring), Deebo Samuel Sr. (heel) and Chris Rodriguez Jr. (calf) among a host of veteran rest days.
Pretty sure that was Yamamoto's gyroball. #Dodgers
