We started a new story for D&D a few weeks ago and I'm still so proud of my session zero to shake things up. D&Deal Or No Deal.

You get to pick a box (one of 30 numbered envelopes), and choose to open the item or destroy the box that had a corresponding item in it.

30 "boxes" with 12 good prizes such as become friends with a dragon, change a class, level up, gain a bonus action, 12 bad boxes such as fight a dragon, down a level, bells attached to ankles, and 6 ridiculous magic items including the kick in the crotch card and the scissors of running.
