We also think of the '&' as being like a serpent, the very same that whispered in Eve's ear and told her to eat the fruit – she was wise enough to listen! We too listen to the whispers from the darkness, from nature, from within.
danielandclara.bsky.social
We think of the artist as a servant of the creative spirit. Our job is to create what only we can create. This manifests differently for each of us and that's why it counts, it's about a myriad of unique perspectives. In this sense '&' is also a symbol of infinite possibilities.
danielandclara.bsky.social
We always use an '&' between our names, never an 'and'.

The '&' is like a magic thread which binds us, it represents the third component of our collaboration which is neither of us individually but the two of us combined.

“Blind lichen - static lichen - not seeing and not moving as we see and move. A way of being beyond comprehension to the frenetic beat of our mammalian hearts.”

David Lynch’s world-building didn’t stop at film. His paintings, drawings, and photography expand his eerie, dreamlike storytelling beyond the screen.

We will explore how his art blurs the boundaries between the familiar and the uncanny.

Old Knobbley in Mistley, taken during a visit to the woods in 2022.

The tree is said to have been a hiding place for witches who were fleeing persecution during the Matthew Hopkins witch hunts.

So next week this painting, the biggest I have ever made at 2 x 3m, is off to the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts for their exhibition Can The Seas Survive Us? Opens 15 March. I’m a bit scared/excited
Haar, a gigantic moody painting of a fluctuating dark sea and a ship on the horizon. Incidentally this is my all time favourite type of sky- slab of violet cloud squeezing light into a thin strip.

On Tuesday we dived deep into @danielandclara.bsky.social work where landscapes become living stories, bodies merge with environments, and creativity blurs boundaries between photography, film, and pure imagination.

🎨✨ Do check out their work - you are in for a treat!

Some current reading for new projects. Thinking about the history of nature study as an intellectual pursuit but also the subjective embodied experience of being out in the field face to the ground staring into the long grass or the depths of a pond as a way to glimpse reality beyond the human frame
