If you're wondering:
The inside of the cam gear is a series of interlocking gears with v tight tolerances, if you mess those up you can end up with a VVT code.
The exterior fins interlock with the interior gears, so if those are damaged, that means the interior gears are likely damaged, too.

What's so God damn frustrating is that exactly 0 of these have been broken because they like, wore out or anything like that. ALL of them are user error.
One of them was because it looks like someone put a PIPE WRENCH on it instead of using the camshaft hex. Do NOT do timing if you think like this.
Minor abrasions on the fins that interface with the internal gears of the variable valve timing actuator

This is my FIFTH VVT GEAR that's been BROKEN
guys I swear to GOD if you're doing a 2JZ VVT gear rebuild PLEASE ACTUALLY LEARN HOW TO DO IT I swear to GOD guys STOP doing this PLEASE I will GIVE you the service manual FOR FREE the information is OUT THERE man PLEASE just read the service manual you g
A 2JZ Variable Valve Timing Actuator (intake cam gear) that someone has used RTV to reassemble. The service manual tells you to throw this part away if someone does this.

As an aside, I've been working on this 150 page "Beginner's Guide to Cars" document for ages now, and haven't really put it to use by making it into the series of videos I was originally planning on making. When you said "first in a series on engine management technology", my eyes lit up.
A text document that reads:

Live engine data

How does your car know when to throw a check engine light? Where do these codes actually come from?
Your car has a lot, and I mean a LOT of sensors, and each one is sending a constant stream of data on your car’s operation and health back to the computer.
If the computer sees that something is out of line, such as if a voltage is too high or too low on one of the sensors, it’ll decide whether or not to throw a check engine code. It depends on the context the issue arose in, the severity of the issue, and the type of issue.
Some problems, such as misfires (when one of your cylinders doesn’t ignite properly), cause not only an immediate check engine light, but also cause the car to beep loudly at you to let you know there’s an immediate and dangerous risk to engine health.
Others, such as the aforementioned oxygen sensors, will often only throw codes after a specific amount of time has passed without the issue being resolved. The oxygen sensor readings change rapidly on a second-to-second basis, and are extremely sensitive to external forces such as air quality. Because of this, the computer likes to verify that the anomaly is truly caused by a mechanical issue, and not by environmental factors, before throwing an engine light.
Sometimes, for very mild issues, this will be based on engine cycles (the amount of times you turn your car on and off), rather than on a set amount of time; if the issue persists for a certain amount of engine cycles, it’ll throw the code next time you turn on your car.

How to read live engine data

So, why am I telling you all of this?
Well, knowing the basic decisions that go into giving a check engine code can help you understand what live data is; live data is you, the user, being able to read the stream of data that the car’s computer is reading, so that you can make the same diagnostic decisions as your car. For example, if you’re getting a code that states P0171 [sorry, out of space!]

Hey! I dunno how much of you've done on this series, but this happens to be 110% in my wheelhouse. I'm both a technician and filmmaker/animator. And also midwestern.
Would you like help with any future videos in this project, even if it's just getting weird footage or animating an infographic?

Can we go back to enjoying bad movies because we have free will instead of trying to gaslight everyone into thinking The Last Jedi was actually good

I wanna say I'm defying stereotypes by being a woman who works on cars, but I'm also gay so I'm actually just a different stereotype
daniellealek.bsky.social
The difference is probably just how annoying you are in the break room, tbh.

He spoke out about his diagnosis in March, and nothing about him getting fired was said until after he started flooding his Twitter with these anti-vaxx conspiracy posts.
I'll take any excuse to dunk on WB, but this doesn't add up. He got fired because of this and is trying to change the narrative.

When I was a kid, I was 100% convinced the Indigo Girls were lesbians, and now that I'm an adult, the shocking truth has been revealed to me that they're not a couple (they're still lesbians) (just not for eachother)

I'm sorry but if you watch Squid Game and it doesn't make you reflect on any of your opinions or beliefs then it's because you either can't read or are a bad person

Soda is a good first-step, I also try to keep my consumption of red meats to a minimum. Chicken, fish, peanut butter, lentils, stuff like that are great sources of protein that don't have as much fat+sodium.
Almond/soy milk instead of dairy milk can be nice, depending on your diet.

If Jesus heard you guys were claiming the world is 5,000 years old so you could take the Bible more literally, he'd prolly roll up on your church and start flipping shit over until you got the point (canon) (actually what he'd do) (he's done it before)

You can ask someone to show you an STD test before fooling around. You can't ask a cigarette not to give you cancer.
Cigs are worse.

Wow yeah gee I wonder
A news article asking "Has health insurance become a toxic industry?" as if this is like, something new and not something that everyone's known for literal decades
